The 14th FIW Research Conference will take place from Feb. 24-25, 2022 as an online event. The highlight of the program will be the keynote address by Natalie Chen (University of Warwick) and the subsequent panel discussion "Implications of Global Value Chain Disruptions for European Import- and Consumer-Prices" with representatives of Austrian companies and responsible persons of Austrian economic policies

Announcement of the winners of the FIW Best Paper Award 22 and the FIW Young Economist Award 22.

Preliminary Program

The conference will be held in English throughout.

Background:


The main objective of this conference is to provide a platform for economists to present and discuss recent research results in the field of "International Economics" with both young researchers and experienced senior researchers. Papers from PhD students, young faculty members and young researchers in similar positions are particularly welcome, as FIW aims to support and encourage young economists.

AWARDS

Two awards will be given for the best conference papers: The "Best Conference Paper Award 22" and the "Young Economist Award 22."

The prize money for each of the awards is 1,000 euros.

The invitation for the "Young Economist Award 2022" is addressed to PhD students and young scientists in both university and non-university institutions who have not exceeded their 34th birthday at the time of submission.


TOPICS

The broad theme of the conference is "International Business." This includes, but is not limited to, international trade, international factor movements, economic integration, trade policy, international trade organizations, environmental effects of internaitional value chains, multinational corporations, international macroeconomics, and other related areas.


ORGANIZATION

The 14th FIW Research Conference "International Economics" is jointly organized by FIW, the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) Regensburg, IfW Kiel, Ifo Institute Munich, University of Ljubljana, Universita di Bologna, ETH Zurich and the Hungarian MTA KRTK.
