The FIW - Research Centre International Economics (https://www.fiw.ac.at/) is a cooperation between the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the University Vienna, the Johannes Kepler University Linz, the University of Innsbruck, WIFO, wiiw and WSR. FIW is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministries of Education, Research and Science (BMBFW) and of Labour and Economy (BMAW).

Award for women in economic research: FIW Award for Master theses in the field of International Economics

 in the field of International Economics

Within the framework of the Competence Center "Research Focus International Economics", the "FIW Award" is announced as a promotion for excellent young female scientists in the research area of International Economics. 

The award is intended for qualified female scientists who have written a diploma or master thesis at an Austrian university in the field of "International Economics" or for Austrian citizens who have written their master thesis at a university abroad.
The total amount of the award is € 5.000,00 and can be divided among several young female scientists. The actual distribution of the prize money depends on the quality and number of submissions and will be made by a selection committee.  

Theoretical, empirical and economic policy theses on the following topics are supported:
Foreign economics, direct investment, development economics, European integration, globalization, international financial markets, international trade and financial institutions, international macroeconomics, international economic development, international trade, inter-national competition, multinational corporations, macroeconomic effects of migration, exchange rate regimes¸ or related topics.

The following criteria will govern the evaluation of submissions: 
- The master's thesis must have been assessed in the period between November 1, 2020 and December 18, 2022. 
- Submission must include the thesis in PDF form and a CV. 
- Content criteria: 
o Scientific quality: 40%; 
o Clarity of arguments and results: 20%;
o Innovation content and creativity: 20%; 
o Relevance to economic policy: 20%.
