Statistics Austria: Regional foreign trade 2012 (preliminary results): federal states showed varying development

According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria for 2012, the federal states Upper Austria, Vienna and Lower Austria showed – in the order indicated – the highest external trade values in terms of trade-intensity (sum of imports and exports). Regarding imports, Burgenland was the only federal state with double-digit growth (16.8%), whereas the imports of Carinthia decreased by 3.5%. Styrian exports increased by 6.2%. Salzburg exported 3.0% less goods than in 2011. Five of the nine Austrian federal states showed a foreign trade surplus in 2012.

Statistics Austria: January to April 2013: imports decreased by 3.3%, exports rose by 1.7%

According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, total imports amounted to €42.50 bn and total exports amounted to €41.47 bn in the period January to April 2013. Austrian imports decreased by 3.3% while Austrian exports rose by 1.7% compared to the same period in 2012. The global foreign trade balance showed a deficit of €1.03 bn.
