The FIW - Research Centre International Economics (https://www.fiw.ac.at/) is a cooperation between the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the University Vienna, the Johannes Kepler University Linz, the University of Innsbruck, WIFO, wiiw and WSR. Diskussionsveranstaltung "Wie viel Wirtschaft braucht die Wissenschaft?" – 24. Jänner 2012 – WkÖ
Die Wirtschaftskammer Österreich lädt ein zu einer Diskussionsveranstaltung „Wie viel Wirtschaft braucht die Wissenschaft?“. Diese wird am 24. Jänner 2012 in der Sky Lounge der WKO stattfinden. Der Fokus wird – neben tagespolitisch aktuellen Themen wie Studiengebühren und Zugangsregelungen – vor allem auf die Rolle der Berufsaus- und Weiterbildung auf Hochschulebene im Zusammenhang mit Fachkräftemangel gelegt. Call for Papers for the 5th FIW-Research Conference
FIW – the Austrian Research Centre International Economics invites the submission of papers to be presented at the 5th annual FIW Research Conference on International Economics. The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for economists working in the field of International Economics in Austria and its neighbouring countries to present recent research. The submission deadline ends on February, 5th 2012. The conference takes place an April, 13th in Vienna. See the conference website for further details.
FIW-Note No. 6 - December 2011 published
FIW publishes quarterly FIW Notes. They present an overview of the most important Austrian and international developments regarding International Economics. The sixt issue is now available for free on the FIW-Website.
FIW-Working Paper No. 76 published
The FIW-Working Paper No. 76 on "Do determinants of FDI to developing countries differ among OECD investors? Insights from Bayesian Model Averaging" has been published. The paper is written by Nikolaos Antonakakis and Gabriele Tondl (Wirschaftsuniversität Wien). You can download it for free.

The FIW-Database Retrieval Tool won’t be available tomorrow, Dec. 16th because of a scheduled maintenance. Among other things we will update the application.

Die 2. FIW-Vorlesung zum Thema "Krisenbewältigung Schweiz und Österreich" wird am Dienstag, 13. Dezember 2011 von Mag. Franz Nauschnigg (OeNB) gehalten. Beginn wie immer um 8:45 im Pressezentrum des Wirtschaftsministeriums. Anmeldung notwendig.
FIW-Seminar am Montag, 12.12.
Das nächste FIW-Seminar in International Economics findet am Minatg, 12. Dezember statt. In zwei Vorträgen behandeln C.P. Chandrasekhar und Jayati Ghosh die Themen "Upheaval in the World Economy: China and India as a Challenge to Europe" und "Commodity prices, financial speculation and the food crisis". Das Seminar findet am 12.12. ab 15 Uhr am wiiw, Rahlgasse 3, 1060 Vienna, lecture hall statt.[more]
